Not another shitty Korean horror anthology👻💩
3.5 films in one:
The Cliff
Two dudes get stuck on a mountain ledge after falling off a cliff and they quarrel over a Snickers bar. Didn't feel it was horror enough and glad they never made it feature length. 4/10The Pain of Death
Three girlfriends driving drunk in the middle of nowhere, crash their car and get lost as they try to find help. More horror, but less coherent story. 6/10Escape
Dude starts teaching at an all girl's school and ends up in a hell dimension while trying to help the girls with something. Comedy horror that I thought would be the worst, but actually ended being the best. 7/10444…

Three tales, none of which are much cop. The last one is especially bad with a particularly egregious central performance. The wraparound is guff too.

Beautifully made, but overall disappointing compared to the first film. The saving grace is the amazing last segment, "The Escape." That alone is worth the 3 stars.

Well first off, the framing device for this one was much better if you ask me! A young clerk at an insurance company can speak speak with the dead so her boss asks her to tell him what actually happened on a load of dodgy life insurance cases. It’s silly but it works! I still wish Min Kyu-dong was directing one of the actual segments but hey ho. 🤷♂️
The Cliffdirected by Kim Sung-ho - Kim’s ‘Into The Mirror’ is on my watchlist for this K-Horror binge this month and I’m quite excited for it after seeing this. I really liked this segment. It worked well within the framing device, it had some cool stylistic moments, it was pretty tense…

Most Notable Japanese and S.Korean Horror Watch Challenge
[Overall Rating: 2.1⭐️/5]
Preferred this continual plot line to the first film, to be totally honest, but the first film had much better segments. Really wanted to be nicer about this film as this serious is supposed to be super notable in Korean horror but. Alas.
Segment 1 - You're Not You When You're Hungry [2.5⭐️/5]
This honestly would have been so much better if it weren't as dark as it was; it had a strong premise but it failed a little with its performance. A semi-solid start, but it could have been much better. Honestly gave it an extra half star because I was chewing on a handrail just before that…

this felt like a joke, any of the stories highlight here.
what bothers me most is that the stories had an interesting and attractive basis or element but the excess of bad effects, clichés and unfunny comic exaggerations ruined everything -

"The Cliff" story is the best!

I mean it's kinda fun? Not anything I hated nor seriously enjoyed. Overall felt very on the fence about it. I do like anthology films though and I'm finding that even if they aren't fantastic, horror omnibuses are enjoyable no matter what to an extent.

Horror Stories 2 doesn't bring much to the table compared to Horror Stories (which I didn't even like that much), BUT it's a bit more interesting this time around.
However, and I might be the only one thinking this given the other reviews, the third segment called "Escape" completely threw me off with its comedic undertones. That one was a complete dud for me, it felt incredibly cheap.
On a more positive note: I vibe with the poster! It's way cooler than the first one.

This is a Korean horror anthology and also the movie that gave us the Elevator Game before that movie came out this year. It is also the highlight story from the trilogy.
The Cliff: the your not you when your hungry story about 2 friends stuck on a cliff and one doesn't want to share the sneakers bar. It's an ok story
The accident: the story of 3 teens traveling together in an new country and get in an accident. This one is better than the cliff, but nothing special
Escape: this is about a new teacher that is lower that plays the elevator game and must escape the other world and they have so much more fun with the other world over the 2023 movie that just added a dumb red hue to the world.
